Us Soliscent Seeds
(co-written with Carlee Calver)
Us Soliscent Seeds is an eco-horror audio drama in 4-parts that tracks the fracturing of a household at the brink of familial and ecological collapse. The audio drama, to air on CHSR radio, is set in a futuristic Northern New Brunswick (or, Kespékewaq) after re-forestation efforts attempt to curb the effects of excessive clear cutting while cities such as Fredericton become by contrast more and more reliant on robotic technology.
Skylark Song
Skylark Song set out to explore intergenerational queer diaspora as related to Eastern European masculinity. Through the embodiments of an elderly Polish man and a dislocated young Ukrainian man, Skylark Song wove histories rooted in stodgy military masculinity and closeted sexuality together with contemporary queer confusions under the banner of re-finding joy in enmeshed unsettlements in New Brunswick.
A Real Boy; Or, The Pinocchio Project
For so long, the elevator pitch for my full-length play, A Real Boy, was that it endeavored to rewrite Pinocchio alongside the popular genre of fairy-tale retellings, seeking predominantly to explore what it means to be or become a “real boy” today—renegotiating masculinity for a contemporary audience. As I’ve edited and redrafted the story since its original formulations as thesis project for my M.A. degree at UNB in 2018 (supervised by Len Falkenstein), the script has grown much more dark, emotionally intricate, and deeply complex than I had initially conceptualized.
One-Act & Ten-Minute Plays
My One-Act & Ten-Minute plays often center on quick and tense moments of drama within rurality, featured in theatre festivals across the country. My shorter plays include titles such as Boreal, Marionettes, Goblin Market, Archive of Fallen Stars, No One Dies, L’Appel Du Vide, and Amid the Rubble
Prose & Poetry
I began my writing career in Prose & Poetry before branching out to flourish for the moment in theatre. I like to say that I have three unpublished novels — a true statement but one that must be prefaced by their high-school under-grad quality that someday might recieve my now-trained editing eye. For now, my published poems and short stories include Study of the Human Abdomen, Levithan, Midnight Oils, All.The.Women.In.Me.Are.Tired, A Secret Project: Early Childhood Memoirs, How to Stay out of Puddles in a Stormy Town, and Then You Feel Magnitudes.
Creative Leadership Positions
Writing is hardly a solitary act, and I flourish in bringing together groups of words and word makers. My leadership positions in the creative writing industry, including. Featured Theatre Festival Board Member/Juror, Creative Writing Guest Speaker, Workshop Guide/Dramaturge, Literary Magazine Managing and Genre Editor, Writer in Residence, and Open Mic Host.
